finding my voice

I took my first singing class when I was four.

At six, I discovered singing was more than instruments & words.

As the music began to play, I'd trace the melodies with my voice & reach every note with perfect precision. For the first time in life, I realized through singing, I could represent my thoughts & feelings in a way I couldn't do with any other activity.

I fell in love, unaware that this world of singing - its euphoric performances & demonstrations of intense emotions - would come to define a piece of my own world.

Throughout the years, I pioneered through language barriers & found out that I adored songs in any form-any language.

I was captivated.

A guitar, my treasure & a stage, my happy place.

In high school, I remember learning about Buddha, who would spend days near a river; eliminating any external distractions, focusing his mind only towards himself.

When I sing, I attempt to do the same; by paying no attention to anything else but simply to the crescents of my voice.

To this date, singing remains the lens through which I view the world through.

Regardless of what I study or which career I pursue, I will approach every challenge ahead of me as I would any song-with intention & passion.

When I sing, I am dedicated & full of purpose, & that is the way I intend to live.
