Finding Myself in the Sky

I am...

I am a heart that is molded by the potter's hands,

but I am a mind that is shaped by imperfect humans.

I am a heart that has experienced your great love,

but I am a mind that has been taught that love only comes from things of this world.

I am a heart that knows of the wonderful news you have for us,

but I am a mind that has been poisoned with theories and facts.

I am a heart that wants to yell from the rooftops of your amazing mercy,

but I am a mind that has been told that I have to respect other's views and keep my beliefs silent.

I am a heart that longs to stand up for what you have taught me is right,

but I am a mind that has been molded to think "rationally" like everyone else.

I am a heart that knows you're always with me,

but I am a mind that says "It's one man for himself."

"Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.”

I am a heart that follows the plans you have for me,

but I am a mind that wants to follow the plans that lead to wealth and fame.

I am a heart that will continue to grow a love for you that is unchangeable,

but I am a mind whose love will be attacked until the day I leave this temporary world.

"What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?"

My heart is a bank that the key has been lost to.

All the feelings, experiences, and knowledge put into this bank are protected and can never be stolen away,

they are sealed in my heart forever.

My mind is like a dog with no owner,

it is tempted to follow whoever waves the best treat or prize in its face. Even if that means turning its back on what's right.

But I am a mind that will not be turned away from God.

I am a fighter and I will pray for God to transform me.

"...the mind governed by the spirit is life and peace."
