Fingers
Phlanges they say
Can be awkward and gay
We take for granted
The fingers we are handed
They get blisters and cramp
We work them to the bone
Then we go to school one day
A careless accident they say
And we learn our fingers are gone
Six hours in surgery
To sew them back on
Maybe they'll work
Maybe they're gone
Simple things like holding a cup
Or maybe even playing with your pup
Things that used to be done with ease
Are now just a tease
A twitch and a tingle
I feel every day
But will the feelings come back
It's to early to say
My plans for the future
All went up in smoke
I feel like an alligator
Swimming in a mote
But two years later
My fingers are there
I now realize how much i care
