Finished

Location

The problem with us modern day Christians is that we've lost how to finish
We try to fit in with the societies within
When things get tough we get in a rut
When we're on overload we go straight into auto pilot mode
We have made church a drive thru at McDonalds "ill take a number four"
And maybe I will be back on the next Christian holiday for more
But church is not for our entertainment
We are there to get our next assignment
Beause when you made the commitment with God there was a contract and you signed it
It said to make disciples and give it everything you have
Not to scrape the bottom of the barrel and give him what you had
But you say there's no more left in the tank
But how can you still work 24 hours to save your money in the bank?
To spend on worthless things
Instead of giving it to the king
Well you can't serve god and money
It's one or the other
It's either the lates device or helping the hopeless mother
We've let denominations set our foundations to cause the separations between the Christians in our nation
1st Corinthians states that the church is one body, one machine
So what happens when the machine is broke?
Nothing really it just creates a lot of smoke
Making it harder to see the finish line that we've been reaching
It tears apart fellowship but leaves the pulpit still bleeding
And the devil sits back laughing saying "if you only knew what I was seeing."
We can't become concerned with what the world flaunts but with what God wants
We have started to desire being successfull in the world
On the mainstream is where we aim to be
Like Nikki Minaj cause she can "rap like this" but see the words that she's rapping the're ludicrous
Mark Zuckerberg created Facebook, he reached his one goal
But the goals aren't profiles they're the savior of your soul
These distractions looking like attractions taking us from the focus of the finish
But Jesus didn't quit because of how the world was aligned
Our Father kept going until he flat lined
Only to rise again saving us from sin
So that we could go and do what God has told
Jesus stands on the edge of heaven saying, "When can I go down?!"
And God's tells him, "Whenever they realize that being finished is more important than receiving their own crown"
We have to realize that soon our God will open the skies
And either we have ran or we have stopped
Either we are finished or we are not

"We've let denominations set our foundations to cause separations between the Christians in our nation." So true, Jesus came to abolish 'religion' and set up a unified body of Christ; filled with diversity and driven by love (as Paul desribes in 1 Corinthians). Churches need to look past their (usually) petty differences in doctrine and simply live the way the Bible instructs them to. There's many denominations, but there's only one Gospel. Here's a short poem I wrote about the struggle with living a christian life: http://www.powerpoetry.org/poems/insignificance
