A Fire

Once upon a time, there was a boy who loved to read.

His imagination was his shining armor just as his mind was his gallant steed.

He traversed far and wide in search of fairy tales to learn.

Every fairy tale was a raging fire, and he could latch on to the flames and the knowledge he desired.

He read Rapunzel and Cinderella and every tale to tell- and yet for some reason, his mind still did yearn.

Everybody knew you could wake Sleeping Beauty with a kiss,

Just like everybody knew Robin Hood couldn’t miss.

And year after year, these tales began to bore him.

His mind craved for the kindles of another rhythm.

He didn’t want another tale of knights slaying dragons, or the story of a wolf and three little pigs.

He wanted something new, something bold and something for the kicks!

So atop his gallant steed he sat, mind as free as Aladdin’s floating mat.

He thought of all the fairy tales he knew, of Tinkerbell and Snow White and Peter Pan too.

He thought Neverland and pixie dust as well, and how the notion of flight made him feel swell.

At last! He decided he would join in on the fun! After all what more could make his mind leap in joy for days in the sun?

So when he slept that night he really wasn’t sleeping at all. He was in Neverland, riding dragons, rescuing princesses and answering the hero’s call!

And when he woke up the next morning he had a smile on his face, the perfect ending to an exciting journey and race.

After all, fairy tales are meant to give and inspire. And the best fairy tale of all is the one where he could start the fire.
