Fire

Faces on walls,
lining the halls,
encumbered by flames they ignite.
As the minds were asleep,
sweet angels did weep,
for such sadness arose
on this cold starry night.

Candles did burn
without care or concern,
too near to the wall they were stowed.
And as the flames crawled away,
in a brilliant array,
their dance set that dark night aglow.

Siren songs had been sung,
but the noose was still hung,
and souls became one with the wood.
The smoke would clear,
but the ash lingered near,
to the earth upon which they once stood.

Though the scene was obscure,
there were many allured,
from the sky to the earth it had fell.
There were those who need see,
the cruel power of thee,
for dark fire hath all furies of hell.
