Fire

Like an ancient tribe, the flames dance Leaping from tree to tree The brush fears the fire’s quick advance As the earth falls between you and me. Branches and leaves now turned to dust And flowers turned to ash As I acted brave when I thought I must And mistakenly turned brash You warned me of impending sadness The sparks of this great flame Now I’m left with unending madness An empty, consuming shame The great forest of pink and green is burning And all I have left is a deep and solemn yearning.
