The fire that shattered during the night (All I need Poem)
I see the wreckage, the fire that shattered during the night.
Silence was all that I heard, there was noone in sight.
I was the only one who swam to the shore.
I thought I would die, my spirit felt poor.
But soon enough, the sand came, and I stood on solid ground.
I heard birds chirping, what a beautiful sound.
I kissed the ground beneath my feet.
Thinking that God Almight is so sweet.
But months past by, the berries turned sour.
I began losing track of the different hours.
I began gazing into the sun, thinking of all that I had lost.
Of the queen sized bed that I needed, of the terrible cost.
Oh my sweet girlfriend, how she is missed.
I can't remember the last time we kissed.
My two dogs, I've had them since I was young,
Are they alive, the thoughts of their death stung?
I needed technology, the feeling of a keyboard on my hands.
I needed to see a concernt, listen to music in the stands.
I needed my parents, my childhood home, the memories of better days.
Those memories are fading, I wish they would stay.
I need to get out of this island, I need to leave soon.
I feel like I'm stuck on repeat, my life is in ruins.
Maybe, if I burn a fire, someone will see.
They need to save me from this life of misery.
Whispers in my head are telling me that I need to leave.
My belief in God is beginning to retreat.
Maybe I'm needed as food for the sharks.
Maybe I need to jump from the ledge when it is dark.
I walked all the way to the nearest cliff, plotting my demise.
I thought of how it would go, my death already contrived.
As I stood on the ledge, knowing the end I needed was near.
An angel on my shoulder began to appear.
The angel told me not to give up, that I needed the will to survive.
It gave me the best medicine a doctor could prescribe.
I realized that all the things I needed, it was just material vanity.
On this island abandoned, I needed my sanity.
