Fireflies

I went out into a field with a million fireflies
Trying to catch each one that went by

It started out simple, I was fast and the task was easy
But as the days went on I slowly grew weary
And the weary in turn made my body grow slow
And I realized I couldn’t catch the fireflies glow

Until finally they all grew too fast for my hand
And I realized suddenly that my end was at hand.
Standing there thinking about the fireflies I’ve caught
Until suddenly the light of the flies became naught.

And so I laid down and tried to see
How the millions of fireflies became part of the black sea

So be sure to remember each moment throughout your day
Because you never know when it will all go away.
