Firefly

Firefly

Sleep tight my little firefly
Dream of brighter days.

Do you remember when you would play in the garden?
The flowers and their brightly colored petals?

Sleep tight my little firefly
Morning will soon be here.

Do you remember the rain falling on the moonlit pond?
You smiling as the ripples faded into nothing?

Sleep tight my little firefly
As you dream of escaping.

Long family gatherings, everyone smiling
Do you remember little one?

Sleep tight my little firefly
It'll all be over soon.

Do you remember that night, blood stains on the walls?
Silent screams of the ones you loved?

Sleep tight my little firefly
The bad ones are gone.

Do you remember to torture they put you through?
The bell tolls midnight as vengeance is carried through.

Sleep tight my little firefly
The time's finally come.

Slaughter has ensued and souls have been taken
Identities surely not mistaken.

Rest peacefully little firefly
Your will has been done.

So...thats my poem. I guess the reason I write is for release, much like when you read a book things like poetry can take you to a place far away from what torments you, writing can give you a sort of freedom from the outside world, take you to a place where you control what happens. Writing is part of who I am and nothing will change that.

Sincerely,

Brittany.
