The First Angel

To the young girl with eyes of cobalt blue
And hair like sunflowers meeting the sun
For there is a land with skies of pink hues
Enjoy your youth, for yours has just begun
Your fragile anatomy, shattered strife
Heartbreaking symptoms with heartbroken eyes
This virus free in your veins, ends your life
Your loved ones watch as their first angel flies
To lands cloaked in honey, the sweetest sight
A sky of glass and a bottomless dive
Where feathered birds can swim, and fish take flight
Where renewed souls saunter newly alive
Broken hourglass, it’s time to say goodbye

Tonight, angels will sing your lullaby
