The First Day

Good morning sunshine!

Today I awoke to your gentle kisses from the east.

At first, you were so soft I could barely sense that you were there.

I stirred back to sleep, but your embrace became more insistent.

I opened my eyes and there you were, reflected in the morning sky.

Dark purple became a bluish gray, then orange, red, and finally sky blue peaked through the clouds.

Today is the first day of the rest of our lives. What are we going to do with it?
