First Day on the Job

A heartbeat roars under my chest like thunder rolls on clouds

My is pounding as if the air contained a million sounds.

The temperature of the blood in my veins is arising

And the man behind the counter doesn’t look very compromising.

I make an attempt to force a smile

But my body shakes as if I had just ran a mile.

I hope they cannot see the nerves that I wear on my face,

And I hope I can keep up with the pace...

I take a deep breath of air and I worry no more

I am greeted by my new manager

Who is waiting on the other side of the door.

I am showed around, and given instructions

My new job certainly does not bore.

At first it was intimidating

My fear was radiating

It was also quite frustrating

Not knowing what I should be implicating

But now I am confident in and passionate for my work

And as a message to everyone else out there:

The first day is always difficult, just remember to stay calm and attack the situation appropriately.
