First day, last day

First day of High School, a guppy in a frenzy of sharks

Left alone to fend for myself, trying to find the light in the dark

I am hungry for interaction, eager to be liked

But step onto a shark's territory, you're sure to be striked

Soon, my smooth scales turn into hideous bumps!

Leaking, greasy, gross looking lumps!

I am in a swarm of preditors hungry for prey

All of these fish are full of color but I am sadly grey

Finally, year's go by and I am suddenly one of them!

I feel powerful, strong, a true sparkling gem!

But I am not out for blood, not hunting for prey

I will accept guppy's in a new gentle way

Last day of high school, I'm now not alone

I embrace my scales with pride like a queen on her throne

But today's the day I've waited all my life for

I swim across that stage, take my diploma and sore!
