the first fail of icarus

"a scholar," they said. "He's a true work of art"

but none ever thought that one day he'd depart

both teachers and students adored him the same

but on that cold day, no one dared take the blame

his grades had been perfect, he'd always felt love

our hearts couldn't match his, his sat high above

but with greatness there comes, a price to be paid

and Icarus knew, his mind had been made

his heart soaring higher on wings of exams

he pushed out his mind all of his future plans

it'd been a hard choice, to leave friends alone

but they didn't know he'd been worked to the bone

so higher and higher, they faded away

and for once in his life, he truly felt great

to leave all the chaos and duties below

and give them, for once, a fantastic show

then smack! with a smile, he crashed to the sun

and melted the shackles, allowed him to "run"

his papers on fire fell down like hot snow

to teachers and students, in horror below

his dead-weight burnt body, fell down but felt free

and crashed, quite unnoticed, into the sea

no more expectations, in-fact nothing at all

and that is the way, modern Icarus would fall.
