the first green of childhood&

the first green of childhood

is simple and sweet

there’s black and there’s white

and nothing in between

there’s night and there’s day

and there’s work and there’s play

until your grow your eyes

and you’re finally able to see the greys

and you realize the world cannot fit into a word

or two

and that the sky is actually really white

and just colored blue

and you realize that you aren’t really this

or that

but more of a potpourri

a collection of complexities

a mish-mash

as time passes

you begin to see

that growing up is much less about age

than it is about learning

learning why you are

what comes next

who you are

how everything connects.
