The first heartbreak

Standing in the dimmed corner is where I am.

Its where you couldn't see the tears streaming down my face because you left me.

You left me and you weren't even able to see my heart breaking.

The abandonment of many has shown me the bad in the world,

and that bad has tore me apart and shown me a new perspective.

But that perspective has showed me pain and hope,

Hope for an easing of that pain

and how to look at things in a way

Where they can only help me and not harm me.

Even though harm comes every once in a while,

You showed me a temporary fix is not the solutuion,

but that what I do after someone has left or hurt me

is what brings on the overall solution.

The child in me is overwhelmed with sadness over what you did,

but who I am now writing this to you is thanking you

for the experience you gave me in growing up.
