For the First Time

And then it came to light

As the dust finally settled,

That there was a girl.

Broken and afraid

As the world truly saw her face

For the First time

in Seven Years.

She was Sixteen Years old

But many Years wiser

As her hellish childhood made her.

She had built a shell

To protect herself,

And to keep herself whole,

Not letting anyone get too close

Observing the world around her

As her shell protected her from their words.

For the First time

In Seven Years

Did she let anyone close enough to tell,

Close enough to tell that what they saw

Was but a shell

A shell of the person she Once was

The person she Wanted to be

And Once they saw

The shell started to crumble down

Slowly gaining speed

And damn it all was she scared

When her shell started breaking

Her world changing

Bending

To make a new One

To shed light to the world

Around her as it truly is.

-

Seven Years ago

I built a shell

To fend away the words

That lay waste to my peace of mind.

Seven Years of hiding had passed.

And One Year ago I met you.

A Seven Year strong shell

Started crumbling as you

Started to get closer

And closer

Until you were dangerously close

Close enough to see through

As it came to light,

As the dust finally settled,

That there was a girl,

Broken and afraid,

As the world truly saw her face,

For the First time

in Seven Years.

For the first time in Seven Years

I saw the light

No longer afraid for

There You stood

There to catch me if I fall.

You put a hand out

To help me stand.

So I stood up,

Carefully,

Cautiously,

And finally smiled again.
