Fish

Plummeting and rising

Gravity defying

Up we go

Because I so desired to know

Surprise surprise

All we got were lifeless eyes

Eyes of stone

And oh so much bone

Wrapping and unwrapping

Endless foot tapping

And with a flick of the wrist

The fish didn’t resist

Organs and blood

Floods and flower buds

Nature at its worst

I could’ve sworn we were cursed

Few smiles

Many frowns

All we could do was look down

Helpless like the fish

Cold and unfeeling like the fish

Apathy killed the fish

Fish spine cracks

Ours shiver

Mine shatters

Despair despair

An odor like no other fillers the air

So much wear and tear

Too much for my heart to bear

Hues of dark red

My heart, hanging on a thread

Bloody so bloody

Why did they think this was so funny

I began to wonder

All the while, I was being pulled under

No longer gravity defying just gravity abiding

I surrender, I was at bay

Piece by piece

What I was watching was decay

But all I could feel was my own dismay
