Fish Grease
A slimy metal can containing endless possibilities,
A catalyst for the family to show off their cooking abilities,
It was the key Ingredient to all my family recipes,
And to all the fish and meat we ate I say rest in peace,
But you didn't die in vain cuz we save our grease,
And when the show us vegetable oil we say N**** please,
Cuz in my family we don't pour it down the sink,
We pour it in the can till the kitchen start to stink,
We cook that fish grease and we do it with skill,
And we save the juice off the George foreman grill,
A a tall aluminum can is nothing less than a clAssic,
Can't use tupperware cuz the grease will burn through the plastic,
It might be unhealthy and a bad habit,
But when the tacos get to frying my aunties had it smelling like magic,
I don't know where it came from, it might be a Carson tradition,
But if you want a Creole dinner you better keep a lil fish grease in the kitchen
