Fish out of water;
The little mermaid
unsure of her future
and longing for more,
rises to the surface.
Questioning the world she knows,
she wants to be anyone but herself.
She does all she can to conform to
the cruel standards of the world above,
but grows more miserable than before.
All she wants is to be seen, to be heard,
but she'll never be good enough.
Now she is stuck,
for she has forgotten who she is,
not sure how to get back to her previous life
under the sea.
