Fishing on the Lake

My dad and I

In old, gray boat

As sun pops up

Coloring horizon

Glide across water

Constant hum of motor

Breaks morning silence

Arctic water splashes

Drops on my face

Lick lips

Fishy taste

Throw out my line

Instant tug

Fighting fish

Flaps at feet

Shimmering Scales

Snap a memory

Set it free

Growing up, my father would always take my sister and I fishing in various lakes and ponds. I always looked forward to these days because it was time I got to spend with my family while also enjoying my beautiful surroundings that nature has provided us with. I wrote this poem for my father to thank him for all the time he took to take my sister and I on our fishing adventures.
