Fishing Poles

Fishing poles

Fishing holes, below are only dry

If saturation occurs, joy is the name of the cry

Exiting the city with hand on rod

Walking through the alley way

Today only got a nod, from the cat

My tongue is able to motivate words

Birds that sing, ones with actual wings

Suddenly I heard, pleasant whispers from the tree

Following that, what made them speak hugged me

Breeze that brought the heat to ease

Singular peach hangs refreshing my memory

Not everyone has a fishing pole

Continue my walk to the pond

Talking like your here

Feeling the bond

The one we once had

Maybe it’s just dormant, but I was a young lad

Present day understanding

Getting closer, the water is only expanding

The sun becomes demanding, tired and wants to lay down

In an hour it’ll catch letter 26 with a cap and gown

Water in the pond is a smokey mirror

It’s as if bygones elevate forever saying bye dawn

Dissipate

In the moment don’t know how great

Pain really will be

At this time I wanted the fish

What I really needed was the pole

8 months later after being left in the dark, in the cold,

A journey on repeat

Endless

Although left with scars I’m the opposite of defenseless

A peach that once hung is a fruit of labor

The lad i once was, I now see as a favor

The water I looked down on and saw thy reflection

Tried to pull me in

That alley way is an infection

To the city what I now call a disease

Praying to god felt like rice to knees

It’s nice to meet

The destined one I now am

A fishing pole instead of a rod in hand
