Fitting In

Dear world,

I Don't fit in

I’m 75% Mexican

But my Spanish isn’t a ten

I don't Fit in

I’m 25% Black

But that’s “not how I act”

i dont fit in

When I ask people what race they think I am the answers almost always White

Why?

Because I’m polite?

Because I say words right?

Because I can’t fight?

I just don’t match the stereotypes

I just can’t win

I don’t fit In

Everywhere I go

I’m expected to play the role

Of someone stereotypical

But what if I was never told

I’d have to fit your mold

What if I was never told I’d have to try and try

To be 100% White

Or 100% Black or 100% Mexican

I’ll Never Fit In
