Five words

Five words, “I want to kill myself”

Wow. There’s five words you’ll never hear her say,

but what if she does say it just in a completely different way.

Not in a sense that is just in black and white,

but in a certain tone where you can try to make light

of the conversation you don’t want to have

because it will be uncomfortable, oh wait, that’s her bad.

What about, “I can’t do this anymore”

It opens a window for conversation,

however it always ends with you shutting the door

on the real problem that is at hand,

But let's put that on hold because there’s only so much you can stand.

Even though it holds just as much weight and sincerity as the first five word phrase,

It’s not a big deal because we’ve all been through that phase.

Right?

Wrong.

There is a difference between being stressed and being depressed

and those words don’t mean anything less than “I want to kill myself”

Wow. There she goes again with that five word phrase

So instead she’ll say, “I can’t live this way”

Because that doesn’t mean the same thing

For the simple fact that it doesn’t lower anyone else’s self esteem.

Because how dare she make you feel bad by saying the words that make her feel sad.

How about this, a six word phrase.

“I don’t want to live anymore”

Again, it’s nothing she’s said outloud,

but it is something that she’s thought to herself, and no she isn’t proud.

Because it is something she thought at her lowest point,

however she didn’t tell you so she didn’t disappoint.

This is one of those things that everyone will find a different meaning for,

because again, they just want to shut that door.

Like, “oh, what she means is she is tired of living in pain,

but it’s okay because she is strong enough to stay sane.”

No.

Stop changing the meaning

and open your ears to the truth she has been screaming.

That she is not okay,

and she is asking for help just in a subtle way.

The problem is people leave themselves blind

and think it is okay to leave the real problems behind.

That is when the tragedy occurs.

Life presents itself with challenges sometimes,

and it is easy for some people to get caught up in it and pass those lines

from being stressed to being depressed.

And yes, sometimes it does take over the best.

Let me tell you, fighting battles against yourself is a tiring act,

so don’t brush off the little things until you know the true meaning behind them for a fact.

Because so many people try to cover up what they are feeling

because they don’t want to hurt you,

But then they miss out on their opportunity for healing.

So save a life by knowing the signs,

Stop trying to paraphrase what you think she means and read between the lines.

It is so important to know the truth behind what someone might say,

so you can be there for them in the best possible way.

If you notice someone struggling, try to lighten their weight,

By talking to them before it’s too late.
