A Fixed Heart

We are all born with a pure soft heart.

A heart made of pure gold and pure glass.

But can we all remember old hearts?

I am one who cannot, like many

More who can only see the blackness

Of hearts created by our own sins.

The sins of breaking or of killing.

The sins of having a breakable

Heart or a fragile mind of blue ice.

Everything is cold in our sad eyes,

But I am one to escape the dark.

I saw a pit, I tried to jump, and

I was caught by my own weight of sin.

Sent to a building of white and blue,

I saw my heart try to die, but I

Kept it alive. Alive like me and

Many others who saw their hearts set

On fire by the judges of sin.

So I fixed my heart, and now have one

With stitches and colors I never

Knew could exist in my blackened heart.
