The Flag of Our Fathers

Our Fathers, our Leaders

They fought, they declared

This nation will be ours, mighty and strong

To none other it can be compared

They had a vision, a dream

Some noble men, who were ready to fight

They believed in this land of the free

Willing to strive for it, with all of their might

Four-score and seven years ago;

Words we all recognize

About brave soldiers who gave it all

The souls for whom we sympathize

Whose broad stripes and bright stars

Unite us at every big game

We stand in allegiance for our flag

In which we hold no shame

A symbol of the heavens, a star for each state

Swimming in a sea of justice, portrayed blue

Red and white rays of sunshine

Symbols of bravery and innocence keep our nation true

The pride in me

Pulses through my whole being

Tingles in my toes and the tip of my nose

Because of this great nation and the flag I am seeing

The lives that were lost

To make this nation free

The flag of our Father’s

That’s what matters to me
