Flame

They call it a flame,
a burst of energy
When molecules get so excited that they have no other way of expressing their feelings
So they burst into the sky
showing the world
That what they have RIGHT NOW
thats whats right
Just like two people in an effortless love
when you move your hand towards mine
my nerves shock me
my blood vessles become inflammed

because im allergic to this feeling
my viens are trying to protect me from the inevitable flame
but they cant
because while I was getting ready this morning I put on my special perfume
reserved only for you
but i was so lost in your words that I forgot that perfume was flammable
so when you looked at me my nerves started a flame and when I touched your chin
bringing your face inches and inches closer to mine

Can you feel it?
Can you feel the flame that surrounds us both making it impossible to move
Baby we are burning
what we have this is fire and god I thought i knew what a flame felt like
but i’ve never had such a desire for someone before you
you make my lungs forget how to breathe and my capillaries fill with steam
and god how am i supposed to breathe

how am i supposed to think
when your eyes put me in a trance and
your hands make me feel like i have another chance
and your heart's rhythm slows my mind down

Shhh the lights darling,
they are out
but we don’t have to stop
you can still touch my chin
if you wish
and put your hand on my waist
you can still touch my heart
can you feel the rhythm

and your heart beat
i can feel it

please
don’t forget me
when your heart rate slows down
because even when the flame goes out
we still have
what we had
