Flashback Reliance

There were warm summers and stimulating coffee, Eyelashes wet with drops of memory, There were long walks staring into the sun, Only to return a shadow when they were done. There are cold nights and restless dreams, Cheeks dried from facing brisk winds. There are aimless wanderings that turn to a run, When routine overwhelms all of our wisdom. There were sleepless nights, but no anxiety found, The elephant in the room, for once, was not around, There were talks of love and finding time, When I would be content simply finding rewind. There are less laughs and softer notes, A life that feels already wrote, There are times for dreaming, but they are few, When we do, I dream of you.
