Flattery
Your eyes are a distraction,
And your laugh is something heavenly.
That sparkling musical In Your smile is playing a song I've been waiting to hear since we met.
& its inspired more than a quicker thump in my chest.
There's something strange about you.
Some sort of allure that keeps an image of you on the inside of my eyelids.
Some sort of attraction that has me intoxicated in your company.
Some sort of spell that has me immobilized qt the thought of you in love with me.
Got me doing crazy things like:
Tricking you into giving me a smile, and offering it back to you.
But only for a commodity far too often overlooked by most men.
You can have have your smile back when I get a night full of holding hands.
Yeah, hand holding.
It sounds a little odd, I know.
But there's nothing normal about feelings like this,
I mean, I developed an addiction that night our palms kissed.
See I don't know what you did to me.
But honestly, I kind of like it.
Its kind of like having a new mind to write with,
Or giving wings to a heavy heart that's gotten far too used to being flightless.
I have to find my way back to you.
But this time, I'll take the path paved with little love notes,
And things I couldn't say.
You know, the one with the signs made from love letters I wrote back in 7th grade.
But I did forget to put stamps on those,
And to put them in the mailbox.
I guess you never got them.
But you'll get this one.
And maybe this one will flatter you into sharing your thoughts, your feelings,
And hell, maybe even your heart.
Because every night before I go to bed, I cup my hands in 10 different ways.
Trying to figure out not just the perfect way to hold it, but the perfect way to make it stay.
