Flawless

A beauty queen they do not see,

This is not what they think of me.

A heart of gold ready to serve,

They stand and stare until I am unnerved.

I've always wanted to fit in,

I simply could not find where to begin.

They point out my flaws and my differences too. "

I'm sorry" I say,

"I can't be flawless like you"

Life carries on as usual it seems,

But I start to question,

I start to dream.

A world with acceptance, a place to be free;

A hope for someone to accept me - just for me.

As time flies forward, beauty fades.

All that remains are the memories we've made.

What can you look back to?

A life full of encouraging words or a dismal memory of vain?

We look for perfection and criticize the weak,

But is not our purpose to be humble; to be meek?

The time you have to change your ways is short, you see.

Maybe next time you will consider your "flawlessness" before criticizing me.
