Flawless
She's always ready
to run.
Heart slamming in her chest.
In this moment nothing
not the sound of the yelling
not the image in her head
can alter the fact
that her blood is pumping
her heart is palpitating
with the slap of her shoes on the concrete
the sharp pain of her muscles
flexing and extending.
Flexing and extending
limbs that do not fail
heart that does not stop.
Oxygen ignights her veins
as they pulse and throb under her skin.
Nothing else matters
not the yells
not the image
only the sounds
of her blood rushing and her shoes slapping
her breath hard and quick
her legs sore but alive.
She's always ready
to run.
