Flawless Does Not Mean Perfection
Facing the mirror is a drag
Laws of today qualify you as not beautiful
Although you’ve done everything in your power to sculpt that "perfection"
Welling up inside is self hatred
Lessening true beauty
Empty and angered
Silent tears fall down your cheecks
Suddenly something clicks
Daringly, you look at your reflection again
Oddly you see someone new
Eyes that have depth and the warmth of a best friend
Soft black hair flowing down your back like a satin river
Not wanting to believe it’s really you, you test it
Over your head go your arms, the girl trapped in glass does the same
Take another look, it is you
Most notice crooked noses and teeth
Eliminating these differences with surgeries and braces
Adapting for society’s sake
Never thinking of rebeling against The Plastics of the world
Perspective changes for you
Everything about you is a flaw in comparison to the 90-60-90’s
Ranking yourself created your ‘flaws’
Flaws that you now cannot see
Editing now seems silly
Can you allow yourself to be free?
Tucking your hair behind your ears and wiping away the tears
Inspiration to reveal your discoveries bubbles to the surface
Obliterate the twisted image of beauty we all strive to achieve
Now go and live, laugh, and love without fear of being different
