Flawless Me

When I see myself I see different

what makes me stand out  is

my will to speak up and stand up not for just me

but for you and for him and her

for my brother, dad, sisters and mother

this is what parts me from the stitched mouths that walk by and keep their heads down

because fear does not affect me and nor does anyone around me

flawless

I was told I would never be anything and I would not be pretty

what is pretty to you is different to everyone else

why should I listen to you

why did I listen

later on I found myself and learned I didn't need anyone or boy to tell me

what pretty was to him

because to me I am beautiful like everyone else I see

flawless

My dad left my mom bruises and scars with gashes and cuts

and he left me kisses and toys

why was I treated better than her

my mom left my dad in a jail cell with nothing and no one

she left the memories, scars, bruises, cuts, gashes

she left her old life

she moved away and found someone who left her with

kisses, laughter, love, happiness and a smile

and she left with me

flawless

Our family stopped talking to my mom

stopped inviting us for activities and holidays

so we stopped trying

but why? why doesn't anything make sense?

abuse, bullying, tramatic events, murder, life

whats the purpose of pushing someone down when they are already laying on the floor

I heard my mom crying that night

questions of why filled my brain and I didn't have time to think

my mom stopped crying

my family stopped ignoring us

we left our house

we left the city

my mom left her unhappiness

I left my questions

our family is talking again and

my mom is happy again

I  became whole again that night

flawless
