Flawless: Perfected Imperfections
We've all got a story
We've all got scars
Some are still struggling
Others have come far
The battled wounds remind me
of the places that I've been
Some days were great victories
On others there were no wins
I use to loathe the girl looking back
It was like my reflection was free
and I was the one trapped
Blemishes and marks we can easily hide
But we can't powder up how we feel inside
There was beauty in magazines
billboards, and on the screens
But still I could not see the beauty in me
It wasn't until my wallet was empty
But my mind was filled
It wasn't until my make up ran out
and yet strangers gazed still
It wasn't until the day I worked my hardest
that I started to see the strength and beauty
in the eyes of the reflection staring back at me
I am flawless
I may not have woken up this way
But I work for it everyday
I've earned it
By striving to become the embodiedment of women I've always admired
On days I felt like giving up
I've pushed myself one step at a time
I've praised the refelctions of other women
Well, it's time to praise mine.
