Flawless Sonnet

Look over there she is flawless

I tell myself I will not break

But all I want: a piece of cake

She sits composed, controlled, I’m lawless

The cake is Yorktown I’m Cornwallis

Desire danced over her visage

Perfection is only mirage

I see her turn away upset

She smiles and takes a bite of food

I feel her melting my regret

I’m suddenly in better mood

I may not be a slim egret

But now I know I’m understood

I smile to know she’s not a threat
