TO FLEE OR NOT TO FLEE

Fri, 03/14/2014 - 22:43 -- Bilal

To flee, or not to flee--that is the question:

Whether ‘tis cowardly to escape from the

Clutches of death, danger, and my own brigade

Or honorable to assail in the

Midst of pure chaos and destruction.

To fight, to kill some more, and by

This kill I lose a fragment of

My soul to death himself.

To fight, to kill some more, aye to

Free the innocents from the

Tyrannical grasps of the unjust tsar.

For whom else if not me, will

Protect the feeble, stand up to the

Corrupt, set an example for the

Future generations, prove a

Tyrant’s rule can’t prevail over

The voice of the people, and demonstrate,

Why actions triumphs words, But

With any and all actions transpires

A reaction, with life changing ramifications?

War has transformed me into a grade "A"

Mortar, slowly descending down from the

Heavens above, primed to explode on

Impact, thus destroying my life as

A husband, father, and role model.

If I run away from all of this misery,

Pain, depression, death, and national morals

What morally makes me any

Different from the tyrant I now face

Who has abused his power on his

Own citizens to gain absolute power?

The choice of life or death, freedom or slavery,

And world peace or perpetual chaos and corruption

Always comes at a cost no matter how titanic or minuscule.
