Fleeting Fear
The little girl stood
with her nose in the corner.
Like most children did,
in time out.
However,
she had been standing for hours- forgotten.
This was the norm.
But she hadn't done anything.
She was confused
Hurt
Lonely
Fearful
It came in waves,
the emotions.
As she heard her older sister
being shown love and affection.
Family is meant to love
Too many had left her
Hurt her
Neglected her.
Fear showed her irrational thoughts.
Was she too different?
Was she broken?
What had she done?
Soon she would leave
Her grandmothers house
Her daddy saved her
But the fear came with her
The cute toothy smile
No longer reached her eyes
She found it hard to trust
Those who claimed love
As she grew up,
it became easier to smile.
She trusted a little bit more.
Didn't think about those years.
The fear wasn't gone though
it came out when it wasn't needed.
She couldn't control it
She tried not to question everything
Then she found hope
Love, peace.
A God who made her
and called her his own.
With time, this saviour
Healed the cracks
Banished the fear
She has a purpose.
I am no longer scared,
My trust in my God.
The fear is now easily
Dimmed, by the light of my future.
