Fleeting Friend

To: Those I don't want to say goodbye to

I wanna be a letter,

A letter that you read someday,

While going through old papers,

A letter you won't throw away,

I wanna be a letter,

That puts a smile on your face,

A letter that can hold you,

Even if I cannot stay.

When your memories fade to gray,

I hope my letters ease the pain,

When you're thinking in a quiet place,

Will my words tell you, "Don't be afraid?"

There's someone in this world who loves you

If you forget then I'll remind you

A brief thought that flits through the mind

A warmth whos source is hard to find

All that and more I hope to be

Because you're everything to me
