Fleeting Light
A first cry
Kick, scream, squirm
Pain for joy
Feather-weight in embrace
Delicate and fragile
Precious and treasured
Adoring eyes look up
Faded, glassy orb stare
Limbs twitch and collapse
Silky skin mangled
Arms reaching, yet failing
I awake with a shrill scream
