Fleeting Perfection

You know how you know something's wrong with your life?

Everything seems like perfection.

The "it can't get much better than this" mindset

Turns out to be a devastation.

Perfection is impossible,

And to believe you're living it is a lie.

Instead you better brace for the inevitable,

Part of you is about to die.

It doesn't all seem perfect for long.

You want more. You're discontent.

Because when life feels like it's perfect,

is when you break and begin the descent

Towards despair, self-pity, and ruin

and it hits you from out of the blue.

But sometimes you have to be broken

in order to be made anew.
