Flickering

The thin trail of smoke curled out slowly

caressing the air above like

a breath exhaled.

Moving light and twirling grey,

she sat fixated on the

tiny dancing flicker.

Ignoring all unpaid bills and hopeless endeavors,

she simply sat and let go of

responsibility.

until hours later when the wax had curdled,

the flicker of light extinguished.

and she was again

forced into the

vast blackness.
