Flight
Wild and flaring and out of control
Tempered and raging and too hot for the soul
Must get it out, set it free, let it go
Wash it clean, scrub it clean, until as pure as snow
The smallest imperfection, the barest hint of attitude laden bite
And the spark drops on gasoline, ka-boom, a blinding light
Then suddenly a vengeful figure towers over one fallen to the floor
But the feelings are opposite as the fallen heads for the door
Heavy and bitter and mournful
Accusing and proving and scornful
To the court of one’s mind, the jury convenes, and convicts
And one wonders if they can give themselves enough kicks
Sweet words of honey bleed out as a result
Causing the other for a moment to halt
They turn back to face the one they love most and most fear
Trying to hold onto this moment where things are clear
Soothing and wounding and getting harder to bear
Loving and hating and fighting despair
Truly I’d stay, but if I don’t leave now I never will
And I’ve borne enough, anymore would kill
