Flight

The thing that we search for the most Is always a temporary find It seems so painfully close But slips through our fingers And leaves us to fly blind Broken wings and broken dreams Like songbirds in a cage Tearing away at the seams We are trapped Unable to disengage Eventually, we might just soar away Into a horizon with no end Shades of black and white and grey And all we can hope to do Is to leave a wound that doesn’t mend
