Float Pt. 1: 8-24-18
Thoughts often float
through my head like
a small boat
drifting on an
unhurried, forgotten
tide.
Lately, the waters have
been a bit choppy,
a bit more dangerous
than usual.
The ideas that rise above
the frothy waves
are sharper.
The questions are
deceptively casual and
do not raise alarm.
Like, "Do you think
the parallel lines
of the buildings and
poles outside
match the cuts on
your arm?"
And because they are
just floating, not crashing
or thrusting or bashing
against the boat that holds
my piece of mind,
it is easy to forget,
to dismiss without much care
the fact that I don't even
have scars to share.
"Not yet." another
idea softly bumping against
the boat.
But I just want to ignore
them. I just want to
float...
