Flourish

You trapped me in a box,

For you could not stand me.

You laughed at my efforts,

And mocked me disdainfully.

Each day that I woke,

I wept and I wept,

Until I did realize,

The box can’t hold my steps.

The mirage you constructed,

Only lasted a while,

I caught onto your tricks,

And realized I’m more than a child.

I finally escaped,

No thanks to your tries.

Now I am flourishing,

In a world without your lies
