The Flower
Broken and torn are the edges of your petals
Showcasing the scars from your triumphant battles
Battles for the purpose of nothing more
Than sheltering your pure and vibrant core
Through hail, wind, and storm you stand your ground
Fierce as lightning from the clouds
All because you realized long ago
That the rain simply helps you grow
My heart swells with joy when you grace my sight
A beauty that glows in the darkest of nights
But oh, the heartache when I say goodbye!
I cannot bare it, I must have you at all times!
Refusing to leave you behind yet again
I pluck you from the dewy grass and take you in
Now you journey everywhere I go
But you are losing yourself, it’s beginning to show
Your delicate petals that were once blush pink
Are now hardening, turning brown, on the rink
Of an undeserving death caused by my excessive control
You were my everything, my entire heart and soul
Why couldn’t I let you be?
Beautiful flower, I never thought your killer would be me
