The Flower

I am a flower beautiful and true

But I have more to hide

Way deep inside

Petal by petal you peel me away

Until all that’s left

Is what’s left to stay

I am a flower

Rich in greens, pinks, and blues

All that needs to happen

Is what we think is true

But way down deep inside

We take a different hue

But sometimes we burn

We get peeled away

Turned to ash, creating sorrow

Leaving happiness for tomorrow

We take what we can and never look back

Until it’s too late and we are too off track

But all of us are flowers

Special in our separate ways

Because even though we hide

We have hope inside

We go our separate ways

Passing each other throughout the days

But every day we shine

We have more inside to hide
