A Flower for Others
Feeling too insignificant to make a difference, my original poem depicts my realization.
Look at me, look into my enlightened emerald eyes
Let them be your mirrors
Revealing what I see when looking at you
Reflecting your beautiful
Building your confidence
Happiness radiating from your smoothly spreading smile
Connecting a rainbow between our hearts.
I hope to be the light to brighten your day.
Traveling from person to person,
Like my curiosity yearns to wander
Into the wildly welcoming windows of the world.
From ball players to tree huggers, street wanderers to history savers,
I crack open my gates.
Giving myself to them, an audience of their thoughts.
To share one’s time and happiness is a priceless gift.
I learned while you are giving, you are also receiving.
I am a product of a many hundred heartwarming hands,
Molded by those who opened their gates to me.
How lucky I am to be given the opportunity
to breathe in the knowledge and experiences of countless people.
Uncover their generosity, strength, and needs.
Individually different, but yet the same,
unknowingly making me more well-rounded.
Each a gardener watering me, fueling my newly rooted passion:
To blossom into a flower for others.
