The Flowers In My Bones

When I die bury me in a garden

Even in death I want life to come from me

From a withering body strong flowers may bloom

From my bones earthworms find home

So let me be shelter for all that remains in the dirt

Let me be a home to creatures that know nothing of thought

And with that let me think even in death about you

How you are still picking daffodils  from off of my body

Even in death where I should find peace I think of you

How I am without you and you without me

Till death do us part and I’ve departed

Think of me as I think of you

See me as the cool breeze that kisses your cheeks on the warmest of days

See me as the sun shining through the darkest of times

Let me be who you think of when you listen to sad songs

Remember me that is all I ask of you

Sing me a song even if it’s the blues

Let it remind you of the cold winter days where my skin was pressed onto yours trying to preserve the heat

Think of me as fire the never ending flame in your heart

Darling just think of me

Remember the first time we kissed how it felt like a Shakespearean tragedy yet we never once let go

Remember my lips pressed onto yours

The way your tongue curved upwards to say I love you

Remember the way our eyes locked as they searched for an escape from this limbo

I found you and you found me and in that moment the stars crossed

Yet all we saw was each other

I want you to still search for me in crowd of people

Search for the energy that I have left behind

Scream my name if you have to just know that I am always there

See me when you stare into the mirror know that In my withering body a piece of you is now mine

The rib that you took from out of your body now resides in me

All I ask if that you remember me, for even in death you are all I can think of
